6 Questions To Answer Before You Say 'I Love You'

SAYING 'I LOVE YOU', IN A RELATIONSHIP FOR THE FIRST TIME IS NOT SOMETHING TO TAKE LIGHTLY. WHEN YOU'RE IN A SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP, AND HAVE ACTUALLY TAKEN THE TIME TO EXAMINE YOUR OWN FEELINGS, YOU MAY FEEL LIKE IT'S THE RIGHT TIME TO SAY IT.

When it is the right time, it can take a serious relationship to its fullest potential. When it's not the right time, it can cause numerous issues between you and your partner. But when is it the right time? How do you know for sure?

If you feel like it should be time, take a look at these six questions and answer them honestly.

YOUR ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS WILL HELP YOU DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT IT'S TIME TO DROP THOSE THREE IMPORTANT WORDS, OR IF YOUR RELATIONSHIP NEEDS MORE DEVELOPMENT.

  1. DO YOU KEEP SECRETS?  This may seem like a juvenile question to ask when considering your feelings of love, but it's nonetheless important. A couple in love keeps no secrets from each other; they are open books that wish to be read by their significant others. If you're keeping secrets from your partner, it may not be time to profess your love.
  2. DO YOU EXPECT PERFECTION?  When you're truly in love with someone, you love their flaws, not just the characteristics that work well. Love begins with acceptance and it's important to understand that no relationship, or person for that matter, is perfect. Loving relationships come with ups and downs, and you have to be willing to accept every aspect of your partner, and the relationship itself.
  3. ARE YOU FRIENDS?  You can't have a working romantic relationship if you don't feel like you're friends with your partner. Friends laugh with each other, they share common interests, they work through problems together, and most importantly, they support one another. Friendships and romantic relationships are very similar, and a romantic relationship that has a friendly foundation has support.
  4. DO YOU FEEL JEALOUS OR NEEDY?  Trust is essential, and it must be a part of your relationship before you say, ''I love you''. If you feel needy when your partner is out on his or her own, or you feel jealous when they are with someone else, you probably need to hold off on saying it. Learn to trust your partner, otherwise you can't possibly love them the way you want.
  5. IS IT ONLY PHYSICAL?   Physical chemistry is important for a working, romantic relationship. However, it can't be the only thing the relationship is about. A relationship built on sex only leads to boredom and the next best thing; it takes something more to have a truly loving relationship with your partner.
  6. HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM THE PAST?  Past relationships can teach us a great deal when it comes to the present. After a relationship ends, you should take the time to examine yourself, your partner, why things ended the way they did, and how it can be fixed. If you haven't learned anything important from your past relationships, what are you really offering the person you're about to confess your love to? If you really love them, examine yourself and what you can offer.

Stephen Hawking's Beautiful Advice For Those Who Suffer From Depression

Image result for Stephen Hawking's Beautiful Advice For Those Who Suffer From Depression

World-renowned scientist Stephen Hawking is known for the nitty-gritty of theoretical physics and providing us with complex yet invaluable insights into space and time. He has also been sharing this expertise in more emotional matters. In a recent talk Hawking gave a beautiful message to people suffering from depression, comparing depression with black holes - explaining no matter how dark they seem, neither are impossible to escape.

Hawking said: ''The message of this lecture is that black holes ain't as black as they are painted. They are not the eternal prisons they were once though...things can get out of a black hole both on the outside and possibly to another universe. So if you feel you are in a black hole, don't give up - there's a way out''.

Hawking, who h as just turned 74, has lived with motor neuron disease for almost 53 years -  despite being he had just two years to live when diagnosed in 1963, gave the speech in front of a crowd of over 400 people as part of the Reith lecture at the Royal Institute in London.

Speaking to the same audience, his daughter Lucy noted Hawking's incredible mental fitness - both intellectually and emotionally.

''He has a very enviable wish to keep going and the ability to summon all his reserves, all his energy, all his mental focus and press them all into that goal of keeping going'', she said.

''But not just to keep going for the purposes of survival but to transcend this by producing extraordinary work - writing books, giving lectures, inspiring other people with neurodegenerative and other disabilities''.

Somehow, this acknowledgement of the often debilitating condition of depression from such a survivor and brilliant mind can go a long way to offering courage to those of us who can suffer from the condition, just remember, no matter how bad it seems, like Stephen Hawking, to never give up.

To Those Who Think They are Falling Behind in Life

Image result for a woman with a blanket staring on the window

We all go through times when we feel as though life is leaving us in the dust. Our instincts may tell us to panic, or to push ourselves harder. We berate ourselves for not going fast enough, not trying hard enough, or not being good enough.

Stop. You don't need to jump into action.

You need to stop pushing forward for a minute.

REST. REFLECT. FIND YOURSELF. LOVE YOURSELF. MEET YOURSELF EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE.

TRUST THAT THE GREATEST THINGS IN YOUR LIFE WILL HAPPEN IN THEIR OWN TIME.

Give yourself permission yo be whoever it is that you are in this moment. What lessons are you supposed to be learning? What relationships do you need to focus on? What qualities are you building in your character? Stop looking for external indicators of your success. Take a moment to reflect on where you are in an internal sense.

You don't have to control every aspect of your life. You couldn't, even if you tried. Measuring your own worth on external factors is a recipe for disaster. You can not control your environment. You can not control what happens to you, or choose which challenges life throws your way. You can only control yourself.

How do you feel about yourself today? Are you kind? Are your morals in the right place? What do you value? Do you give enough of yourself to the people and projects that are important to you? What are your priorities in life? Do you invest your time and energy in a way that reflects them? Are your true thoughts and beliefs reflected in the words you say? Are your thoughts and words backed up by your actions?

These are the questions that you need to focus on. You'll notice that none of them can be measured by your external accomplishments.

It is natural to compare yourself to others. Your sister is starting law school. Your best friend is getting married. Your co-worker is (happily and intentionally) pregnant. Your workout partner just got a promotion and a raise. Your lacrosse teammate from high school is buying a house. It is natural to see things and wonder, ''What am I doing?''

It is natural - but it is not helpful. It is not productive.

Instead, focus on the internal. ''Who am I?''

Put your time and energy into becoming a good person. Identify your true passions and interests. Pursue them with the whole of your being.

Trust in the mystery of the universe. Believe that there is a plan set in place for the future. Right now you might not be able to see the forest for the trees - but whatever it is you are going through, there is a reason.

Good things will come to you when the timing is right. As Howard Thurman wrote, ''Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.''
